Used Instruments

Beautiful, reliable, hand crafted...for the true purpose of making music

Instruments

Laubin oboe Laubin oboes are made by hand, using the same tools and machines used to make oboes for a century. They are made one at a time, and the parts are individually fit. While some may feel that this is excessively labor-intensive, it results in a very high level of precision and reliability, which so far remains unmatched by instruments made with computer-controlled milling machines and standardized parts. Our wood is aged for at least ten years. Our keys are heavily silver-plated and hand-burnished for beauty and durability. A plastic resin sleeve in the upper joint helps to prevent cracking and increase the life span of the oboe. Our bore, undercutting, and tone-hole placement have been perfected over almost eighty years.
